Located in the heart of Brisbane CBD, Jumbo Thai provided an unexpected yet captivating setting for Linh and Dineel’s intimate wedding reception.
Known for its premium dining experience and distinctive East Asian-inspired interiors, the restaurant already had a strong personality of its own. With its moody atmosphere, unique artwork and contemporary feel, the space offered a beautiful foundation for a celebration that was both elegant and memorable.
The challenge was not to change the character of the venue, but to thoughtfully enhance it.
For Linh and Dineel, the vision was simple. They wanted their reception to feel warm, intimate and elevated, creating a beautiful experience for their closest family and friends. With only 50 guests, every detail needed to feel intentional, from the layout of the room to the styling of each table.

Beginning three months before the celebration, we worked closely with the couple and venue team to create a reception that felt cohesive, considered and uniquely theirs.

During our venue visit one month prior to the reception, we carefully considered the layout, guest experience and styling opportunities within Jumbo Thai’s dining space.
As a restaurant designed for dining rather than weddings, the space presented unique considerations. The existing tables were smaller than traditional wedding reception tables, the layout needed to accommodate comfortable dining, and the restaurant’s architectural features required thoughtful planning to ensure the room felt spacious and inviting.
Through detailed space planning, we designed a layout featuring two long guest tables with the bridal table positioned perpendicular to them. This created a more intimate dining experience while allowing guests to interact comfortably and maintaining clear access throughout the room.
The goal was not to hide the venue’s identity, but to elevate it.
The restaurant’s existing artwork and vibrant interiors became part of the story, creating an unexpected contrast against the soft pastel florals. Rather than competing with the space, the styling complemented the venue’s personality, creating a reception that felt distinctive, modern and full of character.
A Pastel Floral Vision With Modern Elegance
Linh and Dineel were drawn to the romantic, lush floral style of Lush & Lavish Events, trusting our creative direction to develop a design that reflected their vision of an intimate and elevated celebration.
The colour palette centred around soft pastel tones of pink, purple, blue and yellow, creating a romantic garden-inspired atmosphere throughout the reception.
Premium artificial florals including roses, hydrangeas, delphiniums and daisies were layered throughout the design to create softness, movement and depth.
The centrepiece of the reception was a bespoke floral backdrop designed as a statement moment for the couple and their guests. Two organic arches formed the foundation of the design, featuring a large pink arch with personalised “L & D” signage alongside a ripple-style hollow arch.
Large floral pillars and lush arrangements transformed the backdrop into a romantic focal point, with the wedding cake positioned elegantly on a plinth in front of the installation.
The entire space became a photo opportunity, with every corner thoughtfully considered to create moments guests could capture and remember.
Creating an Elevated Dining Experience

The tables were styled to create a warm and whimsical atmosphere, combining layered textures, soft candlelight and abundant florals.
Each guest table featured a combination of tall plinth floral arrangements, low floral designs, delicate bud vases and candlelight. The gold plinths elevated the floral arrangements, adding height and sophistication while creating visual interest throughout the room.

The bridal table was designed as its own statement feature, with cream draping, large floral arrangements, bud vases and soft sand wax candles creating a romantic focal point for the couple.
Additional personalised details, including place cards, a welcome sign and seating chart, helped create a refined guest experience while ensuring the celebration felt personal and thoughtfully curated.
