For our client's baby shower and gender reveal, the brief was to create an intimate but elevated celebration for around 50 guests at their North Lakes home. They wanted beautiful pastel floral styling, a well-organised event and, most importantly, a celebration where they could spend their time with family and friends rather than worrying about what needed to happen next.
This is where our full-service approach to event planning made a difference.
Lush & Lavish Events was engaged to provide event planning, vendor planning and coordination, Master of Ceremonies services, on-the-day coordination and event styling. From the initial consultations and supplier selection through to preparing the games, coordinating the catering and managing the flow of the celebration on the day, our role was to bring all of the moving pieces together.
The result was a beautifully styled baby shower and gender reveal where the hosts could be present in the moment, knowing someone experienced was keeping an eye on the details.
MC Services
Before the Event
Our Master of Ceremonies service began well before the guests arrived. Through multiple consultations and an in-person meeting with the couple, we established what mattered most to them, how they wanted their time to be spent and the moments they wanted their guests to remember.
We developed the event run sheet around their priorities, working through the timing of speeches, food, photography, cake cutting and the gender reveal. We also proposed the baby shower games, ensuring they suited the guests and the relaxed atmosphere the couple wanted. Once the couple was happy with the plan, we sourced and prepared the props and prizes required for the games so everything was ready to go on the day.
This preparation allowed the MC service to become much more than simply standing in front of a crowd and making announcements. The role was to understand the entire event and how each part needed to connect.
On the Day
As Master of Ceremonies, Jaya kept the celebration moving according to the agreed run sheet while remaining flexible to what was happening around her.
She coordinated between the couple, catering team and photographer, checking that key moments were prepared before announcing them to guests. When it was time for food, speeches, cake cutting or photographs, she made sure everyone who needed to be involved was ready.
The MC also kept guests engaged throughout the celebration with humour, games, updates and conversation. She answered guest questions, directed guests for photographs and helped gather everyone when group photos were required. Working alongside the photographer, she helped arrange guests and ensure people were framed and ready before the photographs were taken.
When it came time for the gender reveal, the same attention to timing and guest management helped build anticipation before the final reveal.

Vendor Planning & Coordination
Before the Event
Event planning often involves finding the right suppliers, not simply the first available option.
For the client, we began by understanding what type of food they wanted, their preferred style of catering and their budget per person. We then consulted our trusted catering vendors and used our previous experience with them to identify the options that would provide the right balance of quality, service and value.
The couple wanted Indian street food, including vegetarian options, with a live Pav Bhaji station creating an interactive food experience for their guests. We negotiated with our trusted vendors to find the best fit within their budget and presented the options to the couple for approval.
Once the catering was confirmed, we coordinated the practical details required to make the service work at their residence. This included confirming guest numbers, food quantities, serving requirements, plates and cutlery, as well as ensuring the caterer had sufficient space, power, water and access to the area required for setup.
We also coordinated the requirements of the photographer and videographer around the key moments that were important to the couple, including speeches and the gender reveal.
On the Day
On the day of the event, our coordination continued from the moment the vendors arrived.
The catering team was directed to their setup area and assisted with locating the necessary power, water and space. When the caterer was running behind schedule, we communicated directly with them and monitored the timing to ensure the food was still ready for guests when required.
The MC then worked with the catering team to announce when food was ready and guide guests towards the food service in an organised way.
This meant the catering team could focus on preparing and serving the food, while guests could enjoy the experience without crowding the service area or becoming confused about when and where to go.
Live food stations are something we particularly love incorporating into events because they add another layer to the guest experience. Rather than food simply being placed on a table, guests get to see the food being prepared and experience something a little more interactive.
Why Vendor Coordination Made a Difference
Good vendor coordination is often invisible to guests, and that is exactly how it should be.
The couple did not need to spend the night checking whether the caterer had arrived, finding power points, answering supplier questions or working out when food should be served. Those responsibilities were managed for them.
The result was simple. The food was ready, guests were fed and happy, dietary requirements were accommodated and the couple could enjoy their celebration rather than managing their suppliers.

Event Styling
Before the Event
The styling began with an idea the couple had already fallen in love with.
They had seen one of our previous pastel floral backdrops and wanted to create a similar feeling for their baby shower, while introducing details that made the design specific to the gender reveal.
We developed the concept around a soft pastel palette of pink, purple, yellow and blue, incorporating lush floral arrangements featuring hydrangeas, roses, daisies, dahlias and delphiniums.
We presented the couple with an outline of the proposed design, including the floral backdrop, arches and personalised elements. One of the most personal details came from the couple themselves: real baby clothes were incorporated onto the backdrop as a delicate washing line, adding a beautiful connection between the styling and the baby they were celebrating.
On the Day
The outdoor space was transformed into a pastel floral setting designed to feel intimate, elegant and joyful.
The backdrop featured three arches, including a large rectangular white arch, a medium pink arch and a pink hollow arch, layered with floral pillars and abundant arrangements. The baby clothes provided by the couple were displayed beneath the signage, creating a charming and personal detail within the installation.
The pastel florals looked particularly beautiful in the warm golden sunlight, with the soft pinks, purples, blues and yellows creating a garden-like atmosphere against the outdoor setting.
The styling was designed to provide a beautiful setting for photographs while still allowing the celebration itself to remain the focus.
Why the Styling Made a Difference
The styling gave the celebration a visual identity that felt personal to the couple.
Rather than simply decorating the space, we created a setting that reflected the excitement of welcoming their baby while incorporating details that guests could connect with.
The floral backdrop became the central visual feature of the celebration and provided the setting for photographs, speeches and the eventual gender reveal.

Creating the Gender Reveal Moment
The final reveal was one of the most anticipated moments of the celebration.
With guests gathered together, Jaya brought everyone into position and built anticipation before the countdown. The couple’s son opened the basket, revealing pink flowers inside, followed by confetti and a celebration from the family and guests.
Because the MC, photographer, videographer and family had already been coordinated around the moment, everyone was ready when it happened.
It was a small example of why planning matters. The emotional moment itself lasted only seconds, but the preparation behind it ensured that the couple could experience it fully and that the memories were captured beautifully.
